Theological Beliefs

These are the fundamental doctrines that Redeemer Fellowship Church believes, teaches and disciples people in

Confessional

Redeemer Fellowship is a confessional church, meaning we embrace historic Christian creeds and confessions, such as the Nicene Creed and the Apostles' Creed, which help guide our understanding of Scripture and our practice of faith. These confessions serve as a faithful reflection of biblical doctrine and provide a foundation for unity and clarity in our beliefs.

Covenantal

We believe that God’s covenant promise, first given in Genesis 3:15, sets the foundation for His redemptive plan, which unfolds throughout Scripture. Through the covenants with Noah, Abraham, Moses, and David, God revealed His intention to bring salvation through Jesus Christ, the ultimate fulfillment of His promises. In Christ, the New Covenant of grace is established, offering forgiveness of sins and reconciliation with God, demonstrating His faithfulness to redeem His people.

Reformed

We believe in the Five Solas as the foundation of our faith: Scripture Alone (God’s Word is our ultimate authority), Grace Alone (salvation is entirely a gift of God), Faith Alone (we are justified by faith, not works), Christ Alone (Jesus is the only mediator between God and man), and Glory to God Alone (all things exist for God’s glory).

We also hold to the Doctrines of Grace: Radical Corruption (sin has affected every part of man), Sovereign Election (God chooses whom He will save), Definite Atonement (Christ died specifically for His people), Effectual Grace (God’s sovereign and powerful grace effectively transforms the heart of the unbelievers, ensuring their conversion and faith), and Preservation of the Saints (those truly saved will be kept by God until the end). These truths affirm God’s sovereignty in salvation and His glory in redeeming sinners.

Expository Preaching

At Redeemer Fellowship Church, we prioritize expository preaching as the primary way of proclaiming God's Word. This method teaches verse by verse, book by book, faithfully explaining and applying Scripture, allowing the Bible to speak for itself. Expository preaching ties into the whole counsel of God by ensuring we preach all of Scripture, not just select passages. It is the most faithful way to preach, as it respects the authority of God's Word, upholds sound doctrine, and allows the gospel to shape our lives through its true, unaltered message.

Worship

We believe that the Lord has commanded us to gather together for corporate worship on Sunday, the Lord's Day. God's Word outlines the acceptable ways to worship Him, which we recognize as the means of grace—specifically through the Word and the sacraments.

1. Trinity

There is only one living and true God who exists as three distinct persons with distinct roles. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. Each person is co-equal and co-eternal in power and essence. That said, the Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Spirit, and the Spirit is not the Father.

(Mtt 3:16-17, Mtt 28:19, 1 Cor 8:8, 2 Cor 3:17, 2 Cor 13:14, Col 2:9, Isa 9:6, Jn 1:14)

4. Salvation

Only God's free grace can save sinners from his eternal punishment and wrath. Although we have sinned against a Holy and righteous God and deserve death and eternal punishment, He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die in our place, making peace between man and God. Therefore, anyone who trusts Jesus' righteousness and not their own good deeds can have eternal life. We are saved and justified before God solely by what Jesus has done through his life, death and resurrection.

(Rom 5:15-17, Gal 3:10-14. Eph 2:8-9, Rom 3:25-26, Rom 5:9, Rom 5:1)

7. Virgin Birth

The Virgin Marry supernaturally conceived Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. This means that Jesus Christ, who eternally existed as God, came down incarnate as fully human. Since Jesus was born through the virgin birth, he was holy and sinless, distinct from all other children born naturally in sin through Adam. Instead, Jesus is the head of the new creation.(Matt 1:23, Isa 7:14, Luk 1:27, Jn 1:14, 1 Jn 4:9, Gen 3:15)

10. Justification

Justification is to declare someone righteous. God alone justifies sinners by the righteousness of Christ. Good works can not justify man before God. Justification is made only possible through Jesus' perfect obedience to God's law, death, and resurrection. Justification like grace, faith, sanctification, and glorification are all free gifts from God.
(Rom3:21-26, Rom 3:28, Hab 2:4, Rom1:17, Rom 3:27, Rom 4:2, Rom3:30,31, Gen 15:6, Rom 4:5, Gal 3:34)

13. Spiritual Gifts

The gifts of the Holy Spirit that we see on display in the New Testament are still active today in the church and are for the use of building up the church to glorify God.

(1 Cor 1:4-8, 1 Cor 12:4-6, 1 Cor 12:7-11, 1 Cor 12:26-31, Eph 4:11-16, Rom 12:4-8)

16. Complementerianism

Men and women are equal in essence, dignity and value but are distinct by divine design. Therefore, as part of God’s good-created order, men and women have different yet complementary roles and responsibilities in the home and church. For example, regarding the church, men and women are both expected to lead; however, the office of pastor/elder is reserved for qualified men.

(Gen 1:26-27, Tim 2:12, 1 Cor 11:3, 1 Tim 3:2, 1 Tim 2:9-15)

19. End Times

The day of the Lord is when Jesus returns to judge the world. All the wicked will be sent to hell, where they will face the Holy wrath of God for eternity, while Christians will be raptured into Heaven for all eternity. During this dispensation, Jesus will reign on earth for a 1000-year period, the dead saints will be resurrected, the world will be destroyed, Satan will be bound, and a new Heaven and new Earth will be created.
(Mtt 24:30-31, Acts 1:10-11, 2 Thess 1:7-8, Rev 1:7, 1 Thess 4:16-17)

2. God

God is holy, righteous, merciful, good, faithful, just, loving, kind, wrathful, judge, truthful, faithful, and jealous. He alone is omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, immutable, everlasting, self-existent, transcendent, eternal, self-sufficient, and sovereign and ruler over all things.

(Gen 1:1, Isa 6:1, 1 Jn 4:8, Ex 3:14, Ps 7:17 Jm 1:17, Heb 13:8, 1 Jn 1:5, Rev 4:8)

5. Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is divine and human and has two completely distinct natures simultaneously. The Triune God existed for all eternity, and the second person of the Trinity, Jesus Christ, took on human flesh. Jesus, who is God, added a sinless human nature to his eternally existing divine nature. God had to be fully human in every way to be the perfect atoning sacrifice for the sins of the elect. The Son of God took on human nature to redeem guilty people under the law's curse.

(Rom 10:9, 2 Jn 1:7, Luk 1:35, Heb 1:5, Jn 1:1, Jn 1:14, Heb 2:17, Gal 4:4-5)

8. Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is God, a personal being that lives within Christians and has a mind, will, and emotions. The Holy Spirit convicts man of sin, enlightens a person to receive Christ as a saviour, causes someone to have faith, makes them a new creation, and sanctifies a person for holy and righteous living.

(2 Cor 3:17, Rom15:13, 1 Cor 6:19-20, Jn 14:26, 1 Cor 3:16, Gen 1:2, Ps 33:6)

11. Sanctification

Sanctification means to be "holy" and "set apart" for God's use and purpose. Scripture teaches that the saints will keep in persevering faith and the obedience of faith by the power of God until the end. The fruits of conversion will be evident in their lives, though not without remaining sin.

( 1 Thes 4:3, Jn 8:31, Rom 8:13, 1 Cor 15:1-2, Eph 1:13-14; Phil 1:6, Heb 12:14, 2 Pet 1:10, 1 Jn 2:3-6, Rev 2:7)

14. Lord's Supper

The Lord's Supper was instituted by Jesus to commemorate his death, to symbolize the New Covenant, to point to the fellowship of a redeemed people, and to anticipate the messianic banquet yet to come.
(Acts 2:42, 1 Cor 10:16, 1 Cor 11:24, Acts 20:7, 1 Cor 11:23-25, Matt 26:26-28)

17. Heaven

Heaven is where the redeemed in their new glorified and perfect bodies will worship the Trinue God with all the angels and saints for all eternity. Christians will have complete joy, peace, and love with God. There will be no death, sin, sorrow, sickness or sadness.
(Isa 25:8, Matt 5:17-20, Jn 14:2-4, Col 3:1-7, Rev 5:9-13, Rev 7:13-17, Rev 21:4-8, Phil 3:20-21)

3. Bible

The Bible is the divine and inspired Word of God found in the 66 books of the Old Testament and New Testament. These texts were written by man but were inspired by the Holy Spirit. In other words, the words of scripture are the words of God himself. Therefore, the Bible is God's infallible, reliable and trustworthy Word to reveal himself to us, sanctify his people and lead people to salvation.

(2 Tim 3:16-17, 2 Pet 1:20-21, Ps 19:7-9, Mtt 4:4, Gen 1:1, Rev 22:13)

6. Resurrection

Jesus Christ was crucified dead, and on the third day, was gloriously raised from the grave, defeating Satan, sin, death and hell, securing the salvation of His elect. His bodily resurrection will one day be our bodily resurrection. His resurrection shows God's absolute sovereignty and power over all of creation. Moreover, Jesus' resurrection is at the heart of the Gospel and gives evidence and vindication to His claims to be indeed God.

(1 Cor 4:14, Jn 11:25-26, 1 Pet 1:3, 1 Cor 15:21, Acts 4:33)

9. Orignal Sin

Original sin is a term that defines the nature of humanity's sinful condition because of Adam's disobedience. It teaches that all people are radically corrupted in word, deed and thought. Even our righteous acts are not pleasing to God because they are tainted with sin. Therefore, Adam's guilt and condemnation have been imputed to everyone, making us guilty before God.

(Psalm 51:5, Rom 5:12, 1 Jn 1:8-10, Rom 3:10-18, Gen 3:22)

12. Glorification

Glorification is God's final removal of sin from the life of a Christian. When Christ returns to judge the world, the holiness of God will be perfectly realized in us. Instead of being burdened with a sinful nature, Christians will become holy immortals with unhindered and perfect access to God's presence. They will enjoy holy communion with Him for all eternity. Glorification is the final culmination of sanctification and salvation.

(Rom 8:18, 2 Cor 4:17, Rom 5:2, Titus 2:13, 1 Tim 6:14, 1 Cor 13:12, Rom 8:13)

15. Baptism By Immersion

Believer's baptism is an ordinance instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ, to be practiced until the end of the age, which signifies a believer's union with Christ in his life, death, and resurrection, and one's unity and new life with God's redeemed people.
(Luke 3:21-22, Mark 16:16, Matt 28:19-20, Acts 2:41)

18. Hell

Hell is where unrepentant and unrighteous sinners will spend an eternity facing God's just wrath and judgment. The only way to salvation is to repent and trust in Jesus by faith as your Lord and Saviour.
(Rev 21:8, Matt 10:28, Matt 25:46, Rev 21:8, Psalm 9:17, 2 Thess 1:9, Matt 13:50)
